Bloor Street Transformation

Urban Realm

PMA created a sophisticated and elegant phased planting scheme for the new streetscape design created by Architects Alliance for the City of Toronto and Bloor Yorkville BIA. The scope of work also included a Maintenance Plan, allowing the BIA and the City to recreate the Gardens of Bloor Street every year to follow.

Each season has a new and innovative planting design, transforming Bloor Street between Church and Avenue Road four times a year. The planting palette, consisting of bold colours and lush vegetation, compliments the widened granite sidewalks, extensive tree planting and new bicycle lanes, creating a vibrant public realm for the world-class shopping district. The stimulating swathe of colour also provides a brief vegetated oasis for those who live, work and shop in the area.
