PMA Landscape Architects developed a comprehensive master plan for Husky Injection Molding Systems in conjunction with the company’s three year building expansion plans. The primary design principle is environmental sustainability and the enhancement of natural succession. The directives offered a unique opportunity to implement a natural alternative to the typical industrial landscape, sustainable, low-maintenance substitute for lawns. Plantings were established that will ultimately be free of chemical pesticide dependency, fertilizers, and irrigation systems. The plantings offer a new diversity of vegetation that permits natural succession and the reintroduction of wildlife. A substantial amount of storm water is retained on the land in small wetlands, shallow ditches and in a pond. These wetland habitats add to the diversity of the regained natural landscape.
